Counseling services are also provided to the students of Foundation University. Their academic emotional and social problems are resolved by experts in the field. They are provided with interventions to resolve their issues in a befitting manner.
The objectives of Counseling Cell are:-
- To provide counseling services to the students and clients of various mild issues.
- Enable clients to live more productive and satisfying life
- Enhancing coping skills.
- To help individuals to cope with new situations and challenges.
- Promote decision making.
- To assist the individual to make good decisions
- Improve relationships
- To facilitate client's potential
The department of Psychology under the supervision of Ms Faiza Nisar organized a "Free Mental Health Counseling Day" event which was aimed at supporting students, staff and faculty dealing with various day- day minor issues for instance academic stress, family issues, low self-esteem, low confidence level etc. Five distinct groups of students organized five different Counseling booth that were focusing on Career Counseling, Family Issues, Academic Counseling etc that are supervised by other clinical faculty members as well. The event was planned not only to provide much-needed support and counseling to persons in need but also to give students the opportunity to apply their counseling skills in real-world scenarios. This initiative emphasized the importance of mental well-being and practical experience, fostering a supportive community environment and enhancing the students' professional development.
Free Counseling Camp was arranged by Department of Psychology on 23 rd Nov. 2023. A team of six faculty members participated along with their MS Clinical Psychology Students. Some senior students from BS also participated. Fifteen booths were placed in Basketball Court and these booths were divided into Personality assessment & Counseling booths. Six faculty members named Prof. Dr. Iffat Rohail (Supervisor) Dr. Urwa Ali, Amna Ijaz, Tayyab Ali, Faiza Nisar and Meharwish Deep naz sat in counseling booths and MS as well BS students took hold of assessment booths. The activity started at 0930 hrs. with the inauguration and ribbon cutting ceremony by Pro-rector/Director FUSST and he was accompanied by Dr. Sadaf Ahsan, HOD Psychology and Col. Naveed Kiani, GM Admin. After the inauguration students started pouring in, either for assessment or counseling. Fatima, Psychology Clinic coordinator issued tokens to student for the relevant desk. This activity kept going non-stop till 1530 hrs. More than 300 students attended this facility.
