Smart Waste Management System (SWaMs)
Abstract
Internet of everything (IoE) is progressively growing and newly discovered concept in workplace and outside of it. IoE is an advanced technology anticipated as a global network of physical objects and devices provide capabilities to interact with each other. It also facilitates data based decision-making and richer experiences. In the present-day scenario, it is common observation that every locality has an issue of garbage collection and the method of removal utilized by Municipal Corporation is FIFO based that is inefficient, depending largely on human ingenuity. Furthermore, there is no way to identify the fill level of garbage-can and hazard level without manual interaction. SWaMS provides real-time status of garbage-cans, which is then used to classify the hazard level by implementing Bayesian Classification. This information is used to reroute trash collection units for efficient removal of garbage. Same information can be disseminated to residents as well. The physical implementation of IoE opens new horizons in systems development as well as economic stability which is among the prime issues in Pakistan.
