Department of Computer & Electrical Engineering

Foundation University Islamabad

Engr. Muhammad Hassan Malik is a Lecturer in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Foundation University Islamabad (FUI), where he also serves as the Program Manager for the Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering program. In his academic and administrative roles, he is actively engaged in academic leadership, curriculum development, and ensuring compliance with Outcome-Based Education (OBE) frameworks in alignment with the standards of the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) and the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan.

He earned his Bachelor of Science in Telecommunication Engineering from Foundation University Islamabad in 2014, followed by a Master of Science in Telecommunication Engineering from the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Taxila. His postgraduate research focused on the development of chipless RFID tags for crack detection and localization in concrete structures.

Engr. Malik is a dedicated researcher specializing in chipless RFID sensors, Internet of Things (IoT)-based detection systems, and advanced antenna design. His research spans interdisciplinary applications, including agriculture, infrastructure monitoring, smart cities, and wireless communication systems. His work integrates RFID, IoT, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and MIMO antenna technologies to develop cost-effective, scalable, and sustainable solutions to address real-world engineering challenges.

His key research contributions include:

Development of chipless RFID-based systems for milk composition analysis to enhance food quality and safety.
RFID-enabled crack detection and localization techniques for structural health monitoring.
Design of leaf wetness detection systems for precision agriculture and crop health assessment.
Integration of AI with chipless RFID sensors for smart city applications, including surveillance and waste management.
Design and development of MIMO PIFA antennas for compact and high-performance wireless devices.
Implementation of advanced MIMO techniques, such as beamforming and spatial multiplexing, to improve system throughput and reliability.
Research in 5G communication systems, focusing on the integration of MIMO antenna technologies with next-generation wireless networks.

Milk Composition Analysis Using Chipless RFID Tags
This project was carried out under the FUI Internal Funding Program, with a total grant of PKR 0.3 million (300,000). The research focused on developing a cost-effective and non-invasive chipless RFID-based sensing system for analyzing milk composition, aiming to enhance food quality monitoring and safety standards.(in progress)
Leaf Wetness Detection Using Chipless RFID Tags
This project was funded by the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) with a grant of PKR 0.1 million (100,000) and has been successfully completed. The study involved the design and implementation of a chipless RFID-based sensor system for detecting leaf wetness, contributing to precision agriculture and improved crop health management.
Smart Street Sensor Using Chipless RFID Technology
This project focuses on the development of an intelligent street monitoring system utilizing chipless RFID technology. The proposed system aims to support smart city applications, including environmental sensing and urban infrastructure monitoring, through a low-cost and scalable sensing solution.
